To sum it up, I had an absolutely FABULOUS time :) But I forgot my camera so no lovely piccies to show you…
There was so much to see and so many lovely people to meet and chat with. I also did a little business and brought home some gorgeous yarns from a new indie-dyer; Knitcave, and some Very Desirable bags from the lovely Nicsknots!
What inspired me at Wonderwool this year? Huge knitting needles! I’ve seen these before at shows but not stopped and had a go… A number of elements came together at the right time;
- 2 or 3 stalls were selling the needles and demonstrating them in different ways
- I fell in love with the idea of using many strands of Stash Yarn held together to create unique blankets and rugs
- a lovely lady staying at our B&B had bought some giant needles and also found some rather fun selvedge fabric threaded with fluffy alpaca cut into inch-strips (she was already knitting this into a fat fuzzy rug) and I really wanted a fluffy rug…
So, I bought the needles, I bought some fuzzy selvedge fabric and I came home to survey my stash. The fuzzy rug took 3 or 4 hours over 3 days and I LOVE it. (So does Poppy!)
My stash yielded a lot of single balls in a rainbow of colours which sifted down into 3 huge piles now destined to become blankets:
Here’s progress on the first one:
The picture doesn’t show the fantastic weight and drape and texture of this throw; I’ll put more pix up as I get further on and better light! Squeeee!
Am I looking forward to Woolfest in Cumbria? YES!
