Great Balls of Fun!

Today we’ve had a jammy day. This isn’t the kind of day that involves sticky pink strawberry preserve, nor (sadly) the sort of day where you are exceptionally lucky. This is a day, in our house at least, where you stay in your jammies. All day. It’s rare.

So, today, I’ve photographed the scrummy new Artesano Superwash Merino DK and loaded it all up onto the shop complete with the 20% introductory discount cos it’s shiny n new (well it’s 19% really) so that 50grams will set you back just £2.95 until the end of August. Here’s what it looks like…

Artesano Superwash Merino DK

I love this yarn. Soft, great colours, washable, lofty, did I say washable already? Love it. And of course we have a Summer Sale on to make room for these beauties so you can get a great deal just now on the Hummingbird DK and some others too, go see!

Otherwise, I’ve spent time in the garden, made pizzas with TheBoy which went down a storm – thanks to the help of some Twitterers 😉 – we’ve been up and down the lane on his bike (OK, he was on the bike, I mooched alongside) and all sorts of other bits and bobs.

And this:

Fingerwolle Roving - Felted BallsIt’s a huge amount of fun to take something* very wispy and ethereal and beautiful and turn it into something robust and useful** and also beautiful.

Happy days 🙂

B’s Birthday Bonanza!

We sat out at a gorgeous restaurant in Treaddur Bay called The Seacroft devouring Warm Chorizo Salad, Smoked Salmon / Ham open-top sandwiches and a fancy Pizza. The staff there are soooo nice, always offering a warm welcome… wonder if it helps that mum is the one who processes their wages each week?

Next a quick jaunt along the coast to South Stack, home of cute puffins and an enormous lighthouse…

South Stack Lighthouse

… to which you can walk, down 400 steps placed into the cliffside, before hauling yourself slowly back up to the waiting ice cream van. With a 4 year old on a hot day we skipped the 800 opportunities to hear ‘Mum, will you carry me, I’m tiiiirrrred!’ and went straight the ice cream van…

… a much more pleasurable option!

Walking round the cliffs we saw heaps of pretty flowers…

… but not a single puffin. We did visit Ellins Tower, the RSPB’s home at South Stack and looked through there telescopes and binoculars to see all the birdy wildlife that was nesting on the cliffs… I can’t for the life of me remember what we saw but have a look here at the RSPB site if you want to read more about their base at South Stack, a very cute white stubby tower perched on the cliffs with a clear view of the lighthouse…

And that was B’s Birthday Bonanza for 2010!

Oh, there were also some Chocolate Fudge Brownie CupCakes but they disappeared too fast to photograph 😉

Nine Thousand & Fifty Seven Words

A picture tells a thousand words or so they say. So here’s a very wordy account of what we did on the Bank Holiday Sunday, visiting Ynys Llanddwyn near Newborough on Anglesey (the sticky out bit on the map)…

Oh, and I didn’t realise until later that my camera had been set on ‘Halogen’ all day – DOH!
